About the Notary Public & Commissioner For Oaths in Malta & Gozo
The Notary is appointed for life by the President of Malta by a notice published in the Government Gazette and may exercise the profession in any part of Malta and Gozo. Under Maltese Law, the Notary is a public officer who is charged to receive acts/deeds inter vivos and Wills in an impartial manner, be responsible for their custody and attribute public faith thereto.
The Notary alone is competent to personally ascertain the will of the parties or where such parties do not appear personally, of the identity of their agent and to inquire, after reading over and explaining the act to them, whether it is in accordance with their will. Such identity shall be ascertained by the production of the official identity card, passport or other similar official document, or where such document cannot be produced, on testimony of two attestors personally known to the Notary, who may also be witnesses appearing on the deed.

Josette holds a degree of Doctor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Malta from where she graduated in 2004. Straight after in 2005, she successfully completed from the same University, a post-graduate Masters degree in European and Comparative Law. Subsequently she was conferred the warrants to practice as a Notary Public and as a Commissioner for Oaths by the President of Malta on the 17th May, 2004 and on the 23rd July, 2004 respectively.
Since then she has been practicing the profession of a Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths as a sole practitioner on a full-time basis on both the Islands of Malta and Gozo where she gained extensive experience in the notarial profession. She has two offices, one at ‘The Duke’ in Victoria, Gozo and the other in Guardamangia Hill, in Pieta’ Malta from which two offices she normally serves her clients. However upon request and work-schedule permitting, she also visits clients’ residences where client mobility is especially restricted.
She serves clients by appointment, making sure that no one is kept waiting unduly.
Josette is a member of the Notarial College and she is fluent in Maltese, English and Italian. Her practice is insured with ‘Atlas Insurance PCC Limited’ through insurance broker ‘AIB Insurance Brokers Limited’ under Policy number: 144896 690 001 UW2023.
Assistant to the Notary
Kyanne has been with the firm on a full-time basis for 6 years. She has A’ level education and has benefitted from one-to-one training with Notary Josette before having had the opportunity to manage the wide set of tasks that she is delegated with. Kyanne has learned and progressed in a tight-knit environment and has a hands-on and flexible approach to tasks. She has excellent attention to detail and assists the Notary in her day to day duties including drafting of contracts, compilation of documents and preparation of the relative notes of registration.
Kyanne also manages various administrative tasks and liaises with clients, registrars, the Inland Revenue Department and other entities that the Notary has to deal with on a regular basis.
She boasts of strong IT skills, databases accuracy and communication skills with the ability to deal with clients at different levels of seniority.
Kyanne has excellent organization and time management skills which are indispensable in a Notary’s office to meet the Notary’s on-going deadlines.
She is fluent in Maltese and English
Jolene who has been with the firm for 4 years is the one who performs a variety of secretarial and clerical duties, with principal focus on key office reception functions, as well as specialized office support tasks including the compilation of documentation from clients to aid the Notary to conduct due diligence.
Jolene is an excellent team player with a strong can-do attitude and that is why she is the one who chases the clients for the required documents when it comes to due diligence.
She also manages the office organization, takes care of appointments and answers the clients’ calls. She performs routine tasks and processes various incoming and outgoing documents, such as mailing copies of signed documentation to clients.
She too has excellent IT skills and accuracy.
She is fluent in Maltese and English.
